Our mission, at the Delia Arts Foundation, relies around supporting music and musicians in areas of conflict around the world and currently focuses on developing projects in Gaza, Palestine.

In conjunction with the Representative Office of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ramallah, we are launching three music programs in Gaza: Women’s Music Initiation, Music Production Training, and Solfeggio & Music Theory Training.

All three music programs are occurring over the next five months, from July to December of 2021 – all happening at the Delia Arts Center in Gaza, Palestine. The hope with these programs is to create opportunities for talented musicians to be heard by a broader audience. The goal is to help create an economy where musicians, regardless of their socio-economic or geo-political background, can make music a full-time career.

Women’s Music Initiation’ Program

Women that are 17 years or older are eligible to enrol. They can be beginners with a basic music awareness, and they must be residents of Gaza, Palestine. They will meet other women with the same interests and discuss the importance of the involvement of Women in the Music Field.

At the end of five months they will be able to: sing correctly and read music notation; have basic knowledge of rhythms and Arabic Maqams; learn basic music skills (from solfeggio and music theory); how best to use music in your career and daily life; and showcase your skills in a final project.

If you fit the above description, or know someone who does and who would like to enrol, please reach out to the Delia Arts Center (details below). Participation is free.

‘Music Production Training’ Program

Beginners who have a basic music appreciation, are 17 years or older, and residents of Gaza, Palestine, are welcome to enrol. Commitment is required: you need to be able to attend two sessions a week at the Delia Arts Center in Palestine, and to follow the instructions of the Trainer.

At the end of five months students will know the basics of sound production, sound engineering and acoustics; have the basic techniques to record good quality audio, as well as understand the basic techniques to produce, mix and master tracks. There will also be a final project where you can showcase your skills.

‘Solfeggio & Music Theory Training’ Program

Similar to the requirements for ‘‘Music Production Training’, you need to have a basic music appreciation, be 17 years or older, and a resident of Gaza, Palestine, to be eligible to enrol. Commitment is required: you need to be able to attend two sessions a week at the Delia Arts Center in Palestine, and to follow the instructions of the Trainer.

At the end of the 5 month program you will be able to: learn how to read music sheets (including all music notations); have knowledge of the Arabic Maqams; know more about the compositional forms in Arabic music; have knowledge of the rhythms, and be able to sing better. There will also be a final project that you’ll take part in to showcase the skills you’ve acquired. Participation fee: 20USD or 65 Shekel.

The Delia Arts Center

Our vision is to create a peaceful world where all musicians have the opportunity to connect and support themselves through the mutual creative language of music.

And while we can’t do much about the current political situation in the Middle East, we can provide music – and all that it offers – as a respite from the trauma that is pervasive and perpetual in Palestine . Our emphasis is on creating sustainable professional opportunities for the most promising talents.

If you know of someone who is talented, who is living in Gaza, who appreciates music, and who could do with some hope, happiness, and human connection through the medium of music, please contact: hello@delia-arts.org or visit www.delia-arts.org .

We look forward to seeing you!
