Palestinian musician Lina Sleibi began her career in 2010. Since releasing her first song, she has received international recognition for her unique style that aspires to convey an artistic and humanitarian theme through her music. With a discography spanning over 30 tunes sung in different languages such as Arabic, English, French, Hindi, and German, her YouTube audience extends to millions of viewers, and she has toured around Europe and the United States.

Sleibi studied music at the Edward Conservatory of Music in Ramallah, along with earning a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Business Administration, which she believes gave her strong managerial skills to apply to her own musical path. As with many Palestinian musicians, life as an artist is full of struggles, and she is grateful for all she has accomplished so far

. “Music has given me a lot, and I have always wished I could share it back with people. I am grateful for the tiny steps I am taking towards reaching my dream and feel lucky, proud and thankful to have gone this far.”

One influence on Sleibi’s music is the legendary singer lolanda Cristina Gigliotti, professionally known as Dalida. Back in 2015 Sleibi released the music video of “Helwa Ya Baladi”, a smoother and more simplistic version of Dalida’s tune, comprised of only three instruments and voice which garnered worldwide attention and lifted Sleibi as an up and coming international star. As Sleibi explains:

“I simply did a version of it because I love it. It is a beautiful song and it talks about things that we can all relate to.”

2 – When did you decide to become a musician?

Since I was a little girl, I was involved in the school choir and in the conservatory of music. Then after my university studies, I decided to officially start my music career by releasing my first single, “Rajje’ly Yah”, on my Youtube channel.

3 – What Inspires You?

My inspirations are my passion for music and desire to achieve my dreams.

4 – What Are Your Biggest Musical Influences?

I look up to the Lebanese idol Fairouz, and the great Dalida.

4 – Which accomplishments are you most proud of, so far?

I am grateful for a number of things…

Performing “A Tribute to Dalida” at the Dubai Opera after hitting 9 million views on my cover of Dalida’s song, “Helwa Ya Baladi”.

Being invited to represent Palestine and perform in India in an international show after hitting 4 million views on YouTube on my Hindi cover. After that, I did another Hindi cover which also hit one million views on YouTube.

Singing in different languages other than my mother tongue such as in Aramaic, German, Hindi, English, and French. Each song had very positive feedback and reactions.

Singing with the renowned German singer Peter Maffay, performing his famous song “Nessaja”.

Being featured in a number of local and international news sites and channels in Arabic, English, German, French and Chinese.

Performing in local and international festivals in locations such as Tunisia, Bahrain, Qatar, United States, Germany, Poland, Belgium, France, and Britain.

6 – What’s your biggest dream as a musician?

I  have many dreams, but I think that the most important is to become a famous singer, so I can realize all my other dreams. One of them is to help other children, as I went through hard times when I was a child myself.
