Gaza Programs bring together the Delia Arts Foundation’s long-term cultural work and emergency humanitarian response in Gaza. Beginning with the Delia Arts Center Gaza, established in 2020, Delia created a vital cultural hub that served Palestinian musicians and children for nearly four years. The center provided free rehearsal and recording spaces, workshops, performances, and community programs, becoming a rare space for creativity, learning, and connection in an extremely restricted environment. Its destruction in October 2023 marked a devastating loss, but its impact continues through the artists and community it supported.
In response to escalating violence and mass displacement, Delia launched the Artists Shelter in Rafah in January 2024, in partnership with Al Kamandjati and the Edward Said Conservatory. This emergency humanitarian initiative provided refuge, essential resources, and psychosocial support to nearly 100 displaced artists and their families. Located in the Mawasi area, the shelter became a lifeline during the most dangerous months, allowing artists and children to continue creating, teaching, and healing through music. Although the shelter was forcibly evacuated in July 2024 due to ongoing attacks, its legacy endures in the resilience and cultural continuity it helped sustain.
Building on this legacy, the Harmony Day Center Gaza was established as Delia’s ongoing emergency response and community space. The center offers children and young people a safe environment for music, arts, education, and psychosocial support at a time when formal schooling has been inaccessible since October 2023. Through creative expression, cultural engagement, and structured learning, the center supports emotional healing, preserves Palestinian identity, and provides children with stability, connection, and hope amid continued crisis.
Complementing these spaces, Harmony Builders extends Delia’s impact by employing local artists to lead music-based psychosocial and educational activities for children and communities in Gaza and other conflict-affected regions. This initiative supports artists with income while positioning them as community leaders and agents of healing. Across all Gaza Programs, Delia’s approach centers on direct aid, cultural preservation, and resilience—using music not only as an art form, but as a tool for survival, dignity, and collective strength in the face of ongoing adversity.
